FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 25, 2005 – A young Fort Lauderdale entrepreneur, spying opportunity in Fort Lauderdale’s burgeoning downtown residential community, opened the doors of his new home furnishings business, Colee Hammock Home, in early June. Named after the nearby downtown park and historic site, Colee Hammock Home will cater to residents of the numerous new condominiums and restored neighborhoods in the city’s urban core.

“As the condo towers in the area are completed, they’re bringing thousands of new homeowners. We’ve put together a mix of home furnishings with a clean, modern aesthetic that we believe will really appeal to this community,” said David Pendley, of Colee Hammock Home.

“Rather than creating a typical ‘furniture showroom,’ we’ve strived to develop a serene and homelike environment that reflects our vision of living today,” said Pendley. “With the range of goods we offer, a customer can literally outfit an entire home from furniture, accessories and lighting to the dishes and glassware on the dining table.”

Complementing the upholstered pieces are contemporary and transitional side tables and occasional tables; café and bar sets; stools; wine racks; beds; tables and benches from respected manufacturers including Allan Copley Designs, Johnston Casuals and Hammary. Finishes vary from glass, stone and various woods to wrought and cast iron and aluminum.

“Given the range of choices available, we are happy to offer complimentary assistance from our on-staff interior design and decoration team, who will schedule a personal visit to your home and guide you through the design and selection process,” said Pendley.

Colee Hammock Home’s lighting collection includes contemporary and transitional designs by Lamp Works, Robert Abbey and Nova Lighting, featuring rich materials such as leather, crystal, iron, brass, bronze, nickel, wood, glass, ceramics and porcelain.

Decorative accent pieces blend the elegant with the exotic to create a thoroughly modern appeal. Metal accessories wrought in the Delhi, India studio of American-born craftsman Michael Aram range from highly artistic, nature-inspired pieces to streamlined and aesthetic pieces that are thoroughly 21st-century. Each piece is entirely handmade, with no two examples ever exactly alike. Brooklyn-based artisan Aviva Stanoff’s aesthetic is a fusion of the natural and urban. Her Asian-influenced work includes vases, candleholders, table accents, hand-painted silk pillows and throws, and lacquered wooden trays.

Colee Hammock Home’s wall décor features mirrors and framed art including original paintings, limited-edition prints and photographs. Sculptures from The Phillips Collection in ceramic, stone and striking combinations of unexpected materials represent the finest work of artisans from around the world.
